Venue & Hospitality

As the newly appointed director of Kyoto University Hospital, I would first like to describe the latest situation of our hospital. At Kyoto University Hospital, capital investment plans, including the construction of a new ward and renovation of existing wards, have been progressing rapidly. In 2015, South Ward was newly opened and a heliport was built to provide emergency medical care in times of disaster. The following year, the Preemptive Medicine and Lifestyle Related Disease Research Center, which also offers medical examinations, was established. Our ICUs are constantly in full operation, including the Stroke Care Unit, Cardiovascular Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Maternal Fetal Intensive Care Unit, as well as an ICU shared by all clinical departments. About 40 ICU beds will be added upon completion of another new ward, Middle Ward, which will start providing advanced acute care from the autumn of 2019. Kyoto University Hospital is one of the top university-affiliated hospitals by number of emergency patients admitted. Indeed, several ambulances can often be seen in front of the Outpatient Emergency Unit at one time. Furthermore, renovation of the Central Clinical Ward housing the Surgery Unit and the Emergency Unit is scheduled for 2020 and beyond, which will greatly enhance our ability to treat emergency patients in critical condition. We will continue implementing various capital investment plans to secure our future

About City

Kyoto, Japan:

Kyoto is viewed as the social capital of Japan and a significant traveler goal. It is home to various Buddhist sanctuaries, Shinto places of worship, royal residences and nurseries, huge numbers of which are recorded all in all by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Noticeable tourist spots incorporate the Kyoto Imperial Palace, Kiyomizu-dera, Kinkaku-ji, Ginkaku-ji and the Katsura Imperial Villa. Kyoto is additionally a focal point of higher learning, with Kyoto University being an establishment of global eminence.

MODERN KYOTO:

The Hamaguri defiance of 1864 torched 28,000 houses in the city which demonstrated the renegades' disappointment towards the Tokugawa Shogunate.[13] The ensuing move of the Emperor to Tokyo in 1869 debilitated the economy. The cutting edge city of Kyoto was shaped on April 1, 1889. The development of Lake Biwa Canal in 1890 was one measure taken to restore the city. The number of inhabitants in the city surpassed one million in 1932.[14]
